Landscapes are my passion. I paint to express the emotions that the natural world stimulates in me. The majesty of God’s creation demands a response, and I choose to respond with paint. I work primarily with acrylic, but I also use watercolor, pastel, and collage. I especially love water media because of its loose, organic expressiveness. I live atop Lookout Mountain in New Salem, Georgia. The scenes I paint are all very familiar to me. The intimacy of this daily contact crystallizes in the creation of the art work. Some of the artists that inspire me are Charles Burchfield, Albert Bierstadt, Casper David Friedrich, and local artist Mary B. Lynch. I have studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Atlanta College of Art, the School of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, MA, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and also at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am a retired art educator of 19 years.
